About me

My name is Vamiq Mustahsan, and I was born in Hyderabad, India. I have always been passionate about cars and Formula1 racing. This interest led me to follow the path to becoming a Mechanical engineer. I have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Stony Brook University), an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Stony Brook University), and a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University).

After my bachelor's study, I worked on many projects, such as balancing steam turbine rotors at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, auditing mechanical equipment and utilities to maximize energy efficiency in large-scale and small-scale industries and organizing industry-level conferences on energy efficiency and conservation.

As a Research Assistant at Stony Brook University, while pursuing my higher education, I led applied and translational bio-medical research in collaboration with Stony Brook Hospital's departments of Orthopedics and Anesthesiology. I worked on developing surgical tools and techniques for complex customized orthopedic surgeries without necessitating expensive robotic assists or harmful radiations through intra-operative CT scanning.

I led a team designing and developing patient-specific 3D-printed bone graft substitutes using bio-compatible materials to replace conventional metallic bone implants. We customized the implant design to minimize the mechanical stress shielding effect and maximize porosity and bio-integration while maintaining the mechanical properties of the implant comparable to healthy bone tissue.

I also developed cancer detection applications using computer vision and machine learning to analyze frozen sections of extracted tissue in the operating room.I am passionate about product design, development, manufacturing, and computer vision.
